LIV ASTA PRIVATE LIMITED · LA-GUEST-15 · Version 2.1 · In force from 28 October 2026 · livasta.com/policies/guest/foreign-national-nri

This Foreign National and NRI Guest Guide ("Policy") is issued by LIV ASTA PRIVATE LIMITED (CIN U52291DC2026PTC473382), registered office at Plot 2, District Centre, Shivaji Place, Raja Garden, Rajouri Garden, New Delhi – 110027 ("Livasta", "we", "us"), operator of the Livasta platform at livasta.com and in the Livasta app.

It forms part of, and must be read with, the Staying Guest Agreement (LA-GUEST-01) or, for event bookings, the Party and Event Guest Agreement (LA-GUEST-02), and the Livasta Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy and Cancellation, Refund & Guest Protection Policy published on livasta.com. Capitalised terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Staying Guest Agreement. If this Policy conflicts with the Staying Guest Agreement (or, for event bookings, the Party and Event Guest Agreement) on a guest-specific matter, that Agreement prevails.

1. Who is who

CategoryMeaning on Livasta
Indian residentAn Indian citizen living in India — verifies with masked Aadhaar and PAN.
NRIAn Indian citizen living abroad — verifies with an Indian passport.
OCI cardholderA foreign national holding an Overseas Citizen of India card — verifies as a foreign national and may upload the OCI card.
Foreign nationalAnyone holding a non-Indian passport — verifies with the passport and, optionally, the Indian visa or e-Visa.

On the verification form you choose "NRI / foreign national" and upload your passport. Livasta reads the passport (including the code lines at the bottom) to record whether you are an NRI or a foreign national, and your citizenship. Hosts see only that you are verified, not the passport itself (except as in section 3).

2. Documents to have with you

  • your passport, valid for the whole stay;
  • a valid Indian visa or e-Visa, or your OCI card (nationals of visa-exempt countries need proof of their status);
  • your arrival details (date of arrival in India and where you came from); and
  • any Protected or Restricted Area Permit needed for your destination (section 5).

3. Reporting your stay (Form C)

Indian law requires accommodation providers to report the stay of foreign nationals, including OCI cardholders, to the immigration authorities, usually within 24 hours of arrival ("Form C"). Your Host is responsible for filing it. To make this possible:

  • give the Host your passport, visa or OCI details and arrival information at or before check-in;
  • Livasta may share these details from your verification with the Host for this purpose only; and
  • a Host may refuse check-in if the information the law requires is not provided (LA-GUEST-06).

Upload your visa, e-Visa or OCI card during verification to make check-in quicker.

4. Visas and your stay

You are responsible for holding a valid visa or status for the whole stay and for complying with its conditions. Livasta and Hosts cannot extend or change a visa. For registration matters, contact the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) through its online services.

5. Protected and restricted areas

Some areas — for example parts of the north-east, Sikkim, Ladakh and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands — require foreign nationals to hold a Protected or Restricted Area Permit. Check the rules for your destination before booking; Livasta does not issue permits.

6. Phone numbers and payments

International phone numbers can be used for your account and WhatsApp messages. Prices are in Indian Rupees and payments go through Razorpay; whether a foreign card works depends on the card and the payment methods available at checkout, and your bank sets any currency conversion.

7. Local laws worth knowing

  • Alcohol laws differ between states; some states prohibit alcohol completely, and the legal drinking age varies.
  • Smoking in public places is prohibited by law.
  • Drones need permission under Indian drone rules.
  • Photography may be restricted at some government, military and religious sites.

8. Emergencies

Call 112 for any emergency. Keep your embassy or consulate's contact details with you. Tell the Host and Livasta about any serious incident (LA-GUEST-08).
